5 Ways to Practice Generosity this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is more than a celebration of abundance; it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect on God’s goodness, and respond with intentional acts of generosity.

Here are five ways to practice generosity this season:

1. Donate to a Meaningful Cause

Don't miss an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by giving to your church, a ministry organization, or a nonprofit.

If you are looking to maximize your impact, consider giving to Provision's OneFund, which supports several Christian causes including missions, church planting, disaster relief, adoption/foster care, and more. Your one gift can serve all of these causes and more!

2. Serve Your Community

Offer your time to a local food pantry, homeless shelter, or community outreach event. Consider serving meals, delivering groceries, or organizing a Thanksgiving gathering for those in need.

3. Host a Thanksgiving Meal

Consider opening your home this Thanksgiving! Invite neighbors, church members, or individuals without family nearby to share your Thanksgiving meal. Sharing a meal is a simple yet powerful way to reflect Christ’s love and build meaningful connections.

4. Establish a Family Giving Tradition

Set aside time with your family to plan year-end giving. Whether through a donor-advised fund or other form of charitable giving, this can be an opportunity to teach children about stewardship and generosity.

5. Give Thanks by Paying It Forward

Find creative ways to bless others: buy a stranger’s coffee, send a note of encouragement, or leave an extra tip when eating out. Small acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day and demonstrate the love of God.

This Thanksgiving, let gratitude lead you to generosity. As 2 Corinthians 9:11 says,

"You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God."

This holiday season remember a simple act of hospitality can open doors to lasting relationships and point others to Christ.
