CARY, N.C. — Provision Financial Resources hosted its fall Board of Directors meeting Sept. 11–12 in Cary, celebrating the organization’s growing impact through new initiatives, ministry grants, and strategic investments.

“This was an encouraging and energizing meeting for our board and staff,” said Harry Nelson, president and CEO of Provision. “We were reminded once again of the stewardship entrusted to us and the difference it makes for churches, ministries, and communities across our state and beyond.”

Committee meetings began Sept. 11, followed by a dinner for board members, staff, and spouses. The formal meeting convened Sept. 12, beginning with Nelson’s CEO report, which highlighted Provision’s newest initiative, the Co-Labor Initiative.

Equipping Believers Through the Co-Labor Initiative

Rooted in the local church and shaped by Baptist convictions, Co-Labor exists to equip everyday believers to live out their faith in the workplace. Its mission is to bridge the gap between Sunday worship and Monday work and to encourage Baptists to see all of life as sacred.

“Too often there’s a disconnect between what happens in the pews on Sunday and what believers experience in their workplaces on Monday,” Nelson said. “Co-Labor is about closing that gap and reminding Christians that their work is part of God’s mission in the world.”

The first Co-Labor Conference is scheduled for Oct. 11 at Open Door Church in Raleigh. More information is available at colaborinitiative.org.

Ministry Grant Expands Care for Women in Crisis

Board members also heard from Alicia Brown of The Oaks Therapeutic Community, a recent Provision ministry grant recipient. The Oaks received support for its Rooted Therapeutic Day Program, an intensive outpatient program for adult women built on the hope of Ephesians 3.

“The ministry grant supports the Rooted Therapeutic Program, which provides three days a week of licensed care for women who have often faced abandonment, abuse, and instability—sometimes from an early age,” Brown said. “We are deeply grateful for Provision’s support, which is already making a difference in lives and communities.”

Since its launch, Provision’s OneFund has received $209,709 in gifts from 83 ministry partners through 129 donations. Those funds have fueled ministry grants like The Oaks’ Rooted program and helped provide 191 scholarships totaling $378,750.

Render Capital Fund Investment Advances Foster Care Solutions

The board also heard from Ryan O’Donnell, CEO and co-founder of Your Case Plan, a technology platform improving communication and legal representation in child welfare cases through a secure, HIPAA-compliant mobile app. Originally launched in Oklahoma, the organization has expanded into 30 states with the help of Render Capital Fund investment.

“This summer, we raised our first round of funding that Provision’s Render Capital Initiative led for us to expand from three states into 30 states,” O’Donnell said. He noted that systemic challenges in foster care—such as lost documentation, frequent turnover of case contacts, privacy violations, poor legal representation, and lack of transparency—underscore the urgent need for solutions. “It’s a massive problem. There are about 400,000 kids in foster care on any given night.”

The Render Capital Fund, a Christian impact investing fund established by Provision in 2024, currently holds $17 million in investments directed toward companies strategically positioned to advance the gospel globally.

Looking Ahead

In addition to program highlights, the board reflected on Provision’s ongoing partnerships with churches and organizations that strengthen stewardship and expand Kingdom impact.

Outgoing Board Chair Steve Adams expressed gratitude for the organization’s trajectory. “It has been a privilege to serve alongside this board during such a pivotal time for Provision,” Adams said. “The future is bright, and I am confident in the leadership and vision moving forward.”
